AMBASSADORSMark Cockerton

Accomplishments

Professional: In his rookie season, Mark Cockerton made a huge splash in the MLL! In what may have been the steal of the 2014 MLL Collegiate draft (7th Round- 56th Overall), Cockerton would prove to be an immediate contributor for the Rattlers. The Canadian native led the team in goals (24), an especially impressive accomplishment considering he played in only 9 regular season games due to NCAA Tournament responsibilities. Number 41 not only helped shape the Rattlers regular season success, but also helped lead the team during their run at the MLL Championship game.

College: Cockerton was a standout during his time with the Virginia Cavaliers. Mark totaled 125 goals during his tenure, tying him for No.8 all-time with the program. He was named USILA third-team All-American and to the All-ACC and ACC All-Tournament teams. In his senior campaign, the attackman notched 47 goals and tallied 16 assists to help lead the Cavaliers into the NCAA tournament. The Canadian native was nominated for the highest NCAA Lacrosse honor, The Tewaaraton Award.

Biography

Mark has done a great job of getting out of the spotlight of Canadian Hall of Fame laxer Stan Cockerton, Mark’s Dad. Mark grew up in Ontario and, clearly, had lax in his life from the earliest of times. Although he loves lacrosse, Mark likes to watch athletes and teams of all sports and appreciates the differences. He joined Encore as an Ambassador in April of 2015 so look out for him at an upcoming Encore camp!
